And Then There Is Distance

And Then There Is Distance

Distance. It can be one of the worst or best things that can happen with any relationship or friendship. People start out together, one thing leads to another, and before they know it, they’ve drifted apart. However, every now and then you find that relationship that just won’t break, no matter how much crap is thrown at them. These kinds of relationships are golden and should be treasured more than anything. It’s in these moments that people realize just how strong they and their bond are.

Over the years, we tend to gain and lose friends and significant others. It wasn’t until I got older that I finally started to realize just how strong a person has to be in order to keep those relationships alive. There has to be effort from both ends. However, the older a person gets, the harder it becomes to make time for those people who were so special to us at one time. Priorities have a way of changing, and people start to grow apart. By the time they realize it, that special someone is already gone. So how do we stop this from happening? If that person truly means the world to you like you say they do, then why aren’t you trying harder to keep them in your life? Yes, life may get busy, but it is so easy these days to send a quick text saying you’re thinking of them and that you miss them.  This does seem to get harder the farther the distance is, but it’s not impossible. There has to be a will, a need to keep trying, and to not give up.

Every now and then that desire does shine through. You find that special someone who shares the same strength to carry on no matter the time or distance. These are true special relationships for anyone to have. They might be extremely tiring at times, but they are so worth it in the end. However, sometimes the distance seems unbearable, and you don’t know how much longer you can survive without that person next to you, that’s when the true test starts. If you can hold onto just the thought of that person, you can make it through anything no matter how long or far apart you are.
