When we are teenagers getting ready to graduate high school, or even college, we start to think about life outside of the four walls of school. We’ve all seen the movies. People go to college to party, they graduate, and everything works out perfectly in their lives. However, in real life, this isn’t the case at all. This is where we have to ask ourselves if we are prepared for what the world has in store for us.
Not Everyone Is Going To Like You
I know. It’s something that nobody wants to hear, but as sad as it may sound, it’s as true and real as you’re going to get. You will have your fair share of confrontations with your bosses, co-workers, professors, and even those people who you swore you would never fight with.
You Will Hate Your Job Some Days
This is okay! It happens. It could be what you’re doing at that moment, or it could be the person you’re working with. Either way, you’re not always going to like your job, but you have to remember that not every day is going to be bad. You will have your good days. This is where you have to decide if the good outweighs the bad. If it doesn’t, maybe it’s time to make a switch in your career. There is nothing wrong with that.
Anxiety And Depression Are Normal
You’re under a lot of stress. This doesn’t mean that you’re failing at life. It just means that you might need a little help along the way. Neither anxiety nor depression are a sign of weakness. They’re an indication of you being strong and doing it on your own for too long. It’s okay to ask for help. If anything, people will respect you even more for knowing that you actually recognized it yourself when you can’t do it on your own anymore.
Friends And Significant Others Will Leave
It may seem like this will never happen, but as you go on with your life, people have a tendency to “forget” the ones who used to mean the world to them. It’s hard at first, but you will meet new people. You’ll find new friends who are in the same career field as you, and you’ll go on with your life just like nothing ever happened.
Life Isn’t Always Horrible
Believe it or not. Life does get better! It may not feel like at times, especially if you’re in a depressed state. However, it does happen. As you go on with your life, you will meet new people, start new jobs, move to different places and learn interesting skills. Don’t let some bad day keep you down. Get back up again and keep trying because life does get better.
“It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re 17 and planning for someday. And then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And that someday is yesterday. And this is your life.” –”One Tree Hill”
